Know About Hepatitis

- Hepatitis Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver. It can be caused by a variety of things, including viral infections, alcohol abuse, and certain medications. There are five main types of hepatitis: hepatitis A, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, hepatitis D, and hepatitis E.
- Hepatitis A is a viral infection that is transmitted through contaminated food or water. Symptoms of hepatitis A may include fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dark urine, and jaundice (yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes). Most people with hepatitis A recover completely and do not have any long-term liver damage.
- Hepatitis B is a viral infection that is transmitted through contact with infected blood, semen, or other bodily fluids. Symptoms of hepatitis B may include fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dark urine, and jaundice. In some cases, hepatitis B can lead to serious liver damage, including liver scarring (cirrhosis) and liver cancer.
- Hepatitis C is a viral infection that is transmitted through contact with infected blood. Symptoms of hepatitis C may include fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dark urine, and jaundice. Hepatitis C can lead to serious liver damage, including liver scarring (cirrhosis) and liver cancer.
- Hepatitis D is a viral infection that can only occur in people who are already infected with hepatitis B. It is transmitted through contact with infected blood. Symptoms of hepatitis D may be similar to those of hepatitis B and can include fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dark urine, and jaundice. Hepatitis D can lead to serious liver damage, including liver scarring (cirrhosis) and liver cancer.
- Hepatitis E is a viral infection that is transmitted through contaminated food or water. Symptoms of hepatitis E may include fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dark urine, and jaundice. Most people with hepatitis E recover completely and do not have any long-term liver damage.
